A violent storm struck Electoral District #3 in Nimba County over the weekend, leaving a trail of destruction that has overwhelmed local communities. More than 70 homes were flattened, forcing over 1,000 residents into displacement. Families are in dire need of shelters, and food supplies.
Educational institutions were also affected. Kailay Elementary School, along with other local schools, sustained considerable roof damage, jeopardizing the academic year and disrupting the education of numerous children in the region.
Representative Nehker E. Gaye has been actively addressing the damage with humanitarian intervention and noted that the district is unable to manage the crisis independently, officially soughing assistance from the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and global humanitarian organizations.
The immediate needs include:
Zinc sheets for roofing
Nails and cement for rebuilding
Food supplies to support displaced families
Without quick intervention, the rainy season threatens to worsen living conditions for those already affected.
